Tips and Tricks for Spring Cleaning 2022

Can you believe it? It’s almost that time of year again! Time to start thinking about spring cleaning for your home. Spring cleaning is a tradition that every family can benefit from. Whether you are looking to keep the allergies away or looking to get rid of some unnecessary clutter, we have some great tips and tricks for you!

Get organized

Making a schedule and organizing your cleaning process is critical for spring cleaning. Some questions you might want to ask yourself are: What areas of the house need the most time? Where hasn’t been cleaned in awhile? What needs immediate cleaning? Write these ideas on a piece of paper and make a list! This will help you determine what needs done first and how much time you plan on spending in each room.

Clean each room individually

Cleaning room-by-room helps you focus on one task at a time. That way, you can have one room finished before you start on another. It is easy to get overwhelmed when you are trying to focus on more than one thing. Focus on cleaning the rooms that need the most work first so that if you do put the other rooms off, there will be less work in the end.

Work from the top down

This tip is for my allergy sufferers. If you start from the ceiling down to the floor, you are able to push the dirt down as you are cleaning. Then, once you are done with the whole room, you can easily clean up the particles without worrying if you left anything behind.

Get rid of clutter

One of the biggest aspects of spring cleaning is the ability to get rid of unused items. This can create free space in your house to use for other activities or items. The best way to do this is to make piles for different places your items are going to. You should have a pile for trash, donations, and what you want to keep. If you are looking to make some extra money, try holding a yard sale with the items you want to get rid of before donating them to your local thrift shop.

Have the whole house help

No matter what the age, there can be a spring cleaning task for everyone. Try assigning age appropriate tasks to each child. If you don’t have children, try getting a neighbor involved for some sort of trade-off. Remember, two heads can be better than one!

Clean your air

Another great tip for my allergy sufferers, don’t forget to clean the air filters in your house. Over the winter, air conditioning systems can build up particles that get stuck in the ducts. This can cause irritation to the immune system and further irritate your body. Make sure to replace your filters for an inexpensive way to breathe in healthier air.

Set a tone for 2022

Set a new tone for the year during your cleaning process. When moving old stuff out, think about making new changes to brighten up your space. Replacing things like towels, curtains, decorations, and even bedding can add more dimension to your space and make it feel new again!
